Why do tutors choose Hiscox?
Whether you’re helping children with reading, teaching English as a second language, or preparing teens for standardized tests, your tutoring business is making a difference. It’s important to protect that business with customized insurance that covers the specific risks tutors face.
If a client alleges that you caused property damage or a bodily injury, or if they claim that you did not provide the services they hired you for, they could file a claim or lawsuit. Insurance could cover the costs of such a claim, including defense costs, even if you haven’t made a mistake.
At Hiscox, we are business insurance experts – that's all we do. To find out what kind of insurance you need as a tutor, and how much it will cost, get a quote.

Do you need insurance as a tutor?
If you see students face-to-face, you should have general liability (GL) insurance coverage. This protects you from third-party claims of bodily injury or property damage.
For example, if a student trips and falls in your office, your GL policy could cover their medical costs. Or, if you break something in a client’s home, your policy may cover the cost to replace the item.
Tutors should also have professional liability (sometimes called E&O) coverage. This covers claims of negligence, such as a student who claims you did not prepare them properly for the SAT and are responsible for their low score.
Cyber security insurance is important for tutors who use computers in their business.
