Hiscox Partners with Slate to Tell Courageous Small Business Stories
At Hiscox we believe with courage comes the freedom to do more and be more. That’s why we are proud to encourage courage on the part of entrepreneurs and small business owners. Today we are excited to announce a new partnership with Slate on a special podcast series, Points of Courage, which is designed to highlight the courage of some of our small business clients. In Points of Courage, three Hiscox Small Business Insurance clients share their most courageous business moments and discuss how they’ve found strength in the entrepreneurial challenge. “Points of Courage is a natural addition to our Encourage Courage brand platform,” said Russell Findlay, Chief Marketing Officer at Hiscox. “We wanted to create a powerful, emotive resource for aspiring entrepreneurs as they evaluate the risks and rewards of starting a business.” The podcast is hosted by Jessica Jackley, an American entrepreneur and the co-founder of Kiva, one of the world's first p2p microlending websites. Kiva lets internet users lend as little as $25 to individual entrepreneurs, providing them affordable capital to start or expand a small business. Since its founding in October 2005 Kiva has facilitated over $700 million dollars in loans among individuals across 216 countries.
About Episode 1: Louise Sattler & Signing Families Episode one features Louise Sattler, founder of Signing Families. Louise learned sign language in college on a whim. After two decades working as a school psychologist and using sign language to help children with developmental challenges, Louise Sattler launched Signing Families, a sign language instructional company that provides resources to help first responders, educators and families communicate with individuals with exceptional needs. Sattler speaks honestly and openly about the bumps in the road to success and how she found the courage to keep building. Hiscox and Encourage Courage Points of Courage adds to Hiscox’s award winning Encourage Courage brand platform, which was launched in 2014. Since then, the company has partnered with Forbes to release The American Courage Index, a national study on the courage of US entrepreneurs. In 2015, Hiscox also announced a multi-city brand activation partnership with Tough Mudder and a 6 part docu-series, Courageous Leaders, featuring top young entrepreneurs including Dennis Crowley, founder of Foursquare.
