1. Offer a Discount in Celebration of the Holiday With Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Thanksgiving is the official start of the holiday season. One way to make sure that you’re able to take advantage of the high volume of sales traffic is to offer a discount or promotion. You can take a few different approaches here to maximize your savings while encouraging shoppers to spend their dollars with you.

It’s appealing to consumers because, psychologically, nothing feels better than getting something for free. If you’ve got excessive inventory of a product, consider paring it with one of your more popular products as a BOGO deal. Keep in mind that BOGO deals work best when the appealing item is priced to maximize profits, so price appropriately.

These days consumers are more price sensitive ever, and many people have a smart phone where they can research the cost of a product online before they choose to buy. If you use a price deal, say 10%, 20%, or 50% off, you can likely use the increase in the volume of sales to offset the cost of the discount.
