Firm appoints Professional Risks Practice Leader and Head of Middle Market E&O

NEW YORK, November 11, 2015 – Specialist insurer, Hiscox USA, today announced two senior appointments to its fast-growing Professional Risks division.

Neil Lipuma, previously Head of Financial Services for Hiscox USA, has been appointed to the newly created role of Professional Risks Practice Leader. In his new role, Neil will lead a team focused on providing risk solutions to a wide range of industries and professionals, including those in the technology, A&E, accounting, financial services, real estate, healthcare and miscellaneous professional liability sectors. Mr. Lipuma will be based in Hiscox’s New York office and will report to Nicole Goodwin, Hiscox USA’s Chief Underwriting Officer.

Lipuma brings nearly 20 years of proven underwriting management experience across multiple professional risk classes. In his new role, Neil will focus on further expanding the company’s footprint with small and medium enterprise (SME) businesses with less than $1 billion in annual revenue.

“Neil is a highly experienced and creative underwriting talent, obsessed with finding solutions for our clients. I’m excited about his vision to further accelerate our profitable growth in the SME sector, where we continue to see momentum and opportunity for future growth,” said Ms. Goodwin.

Maureen LePiane has also joined the company in the new position of Head of Middle Market E&O for the Professional Risks division, reporting to Mr. Lipuma and working out of Hiscox’s New York office.

LePiane was previously E&O Practice Group Leader at Allianz Global where she oversaw a large, national book of E&O business focusing on SME accounts in both the retail and wholesale brokerage channels. She has 15 years of underwriting management experience across multiple lines, including Lawyers, Accountants, Professional Liability, Miscellaneous, Technology, Cyber and Media E&O. LePiane holds a law degree from Villanova School of Law and was in private law practice prior to embarking on her underwriting career.

“Maureen’s experience leading the development of solutions and teams dedicated to the unique and evolving needs of middle market businesses with less than $1 billion in revenue will be a huge asset to our business,” said Lipuma. “Hiscox USA is committed to providing SME businesses the solutions they need to succeed and we expect to continue to invest in the best talent and capabilities in order to serve these organizations.”

Hiscox USA provides a variety of specialty risk solutions including a broad spectrum of professional E&O, GL, privacy/data breach, media liability, management liability, crime, kidnap & ransom, terrorism and commercial property products and services, including an industry leading claims service.
