Claims scenarios

Not sure what risks our tailored Artisan Subcontractors Form would cover? We’ve brought some scenarios to life.

Faulty Workmanship

A plumbing contractor incorrectly secures a seam in a new home. The homeowner discovers the leak through the lighting fixtures to the floor below. The plumbing contractor’s general liability policy picked up the damages to the ceiling, flooring and cabinets. The cost to rip out and replace was excluded by the “Your Work” exclusion on the General liability policy. A Hiscox Pro Subcontractor Policy covers the cost to rip out the shower, repair the faulty pipe, and restore the shower to its proper appearance.

Pollution

During the installation of a new sprinkler system in a historic building, a fire suppression contractor accidentally disturbed previously encapsulated asbestos. Asbestos and pollution is excluded on the contractors General Liability policy. A Hiscox Pro Subcontractor Policy covers the cost to pay for the clean-up costs to remediate the asbestos circulating the air, as well as the installation of new insulation in order to restore the building’s insulation to its previous condition.
