The annual Inc. Leadership Forum provides entrepreneurs and small business owners with strategies on growing their business through effective leadership. Topics at this year’s forum included how to create a company culture that makes an organization successful and tips on how to be a vulnerable leader in order promote innovation in the workplace.
At this year’s event, the Hiscox team asked attendees about their thoughts on what it takes to be a great leader. In the video above, Philip Walker, CEO of Network Solutions Provider, shares what leadership means to him. Philip isn’t shy about taking on leadership roles. After resigning as vice president of an IT firm, Philip launched NSP by resorting to an old-fashioned technique, going door-to-door to connect with potential clients. He was able to make his technology integration company stand out by offering 24-hour support, lower rates and touting his years of expertise in the IT industry. Philip’s determination eventually paid off as he landed partnerships with major telecommunications companies such as TelePacific and AT&T. Philip’s bootstrapping success led to him being featured in major publications such as Inc., Black Enterprise and more. Watch Philip’s interview for his thoughts on what it takes to be a great leader.
