Russell was appointed Managing Director of the newly created Hiscox London Market in May 2009 and is responsible for the underwriting of insurance and reinsurance business in London by Hiscox syndicates 33, 626 and 6104.

Russell began his insurance career with the reinsurance broker Greig Fester in 1990 and joined Hiscox in 1997 as an underwriter for Syndicate 33's non-marine treaty account. As manager of Hiscox’s London reinsurance division from 2001 to 2008, Russell oversaw a period of sustained growth and profitability and played a role in establishing Hiscox’s reinsurance operations in Bermuda in 2005.

Russell completed his ACII in 1994 and has an MA (Hons) in Management Studies and International Relations from St Andrews University. Having served five years as Chairman of the LMA's Reinsurance Business Panel in 2008, he continues to be a member of the LMA's Underwriting Committee.

Rob joined Hiscox in July 2003 working as Deputy on the personal accident account, high net worth division, Syndicate 33. Prior to Hiscox he worked for AIG writing various classes of accident and health business including corporate PA and travel. Rob joined the property treaty division in 2010, largely writing North American treaty programmes.

Adam joined Hiscox Syndicate 33 in 2006 to underwrite the Fine Art and Specie account with Robert Read. Broadening his Lloyd's underwriting experience to include the reinsurance account in 2010, Adam is now the Deputy Underwriter for Marine and Aviation classes, with a particular focus on the foreign marine book, working with Guy Ellis.

Andrew joined the outwards reinsurance purchase team at Hiscox in 2000 following two and a half years working as a reinsurance operations technician at an outsourcing company on Lloyd's business.

Andrew's initial role at Hiscox involved working between the outwards reinsurance team buying reinsurance for the Hiscox Group as well as managing the internal DFA model used to inform the group on its business planning and reinsurance structures. In 2010 Andrew joined the non-marine treaty reinsurance team on secondment, becoming a permanent member of the international and agriculture team towards the end of that year.

Guy started his reinsurance career in 1984, joining Hiscox in 1998. He has been the Marine and Aviation Treaty Line Underwriter for Syndicate 33 since 2001, writing X/L and pro rata for both classes. He sits on the LMA Joint Excess of Loss committee in London.

Michael is the Head of Non-Marine Reinsurance for International and Agriculture for Hiscox Syndicate 33. Michael joined Hiscox in 2005 as an underwriter in the non-marine reinsurance team. He was born in Poland and lived in a number of European countries before moving to the UK. Michael graduated from Bath University with a BSc (Hons) in Management and Languages. Michael also has a post-graduate diploma in Financial Strategy from Oxford Business School and is fluent in both German and Polish.

Prior to Hiscox, Michael was a reinsurance broker at Willis for two years, dealing mainly with European clients. He is now responsible for catastrophe excess, aggregate excess, risk excess and pro rata treaties for all regions outside of North America as well as agriculture treaties worldwide.

Mike is the Head of Non-Marine Reinsurance for North America and the Caribbean for Hiscox Syndicate 33. He began his career in Merrill Lynch, working as an analyst on the investment management side. After a short spell in the banking sector he moved to Hiscox at the end of 2002 and joined the management information team where he was responsible for producing group management information, reporting and analysis.

Mike then transferred to the catastrophe modelling team for two years and was responsible for managing the syndicate's property, onshore energy and terrorism portfolios. He is a certified catastrophe risk analyst and holds a postgraduate certificate in natural hazards. He joined the reinsurance team in 2006 and writes catastrophe and risk excess of loss and proportional treaties, predominantly in North America and the Caribbean.

Nick joined Hiscox in 2007 and has been underwriting reinsurance on behalf of the non-marine treaty team since mid-2008. His underwriting focus is on North America and the Caribbean, writing catastrophe excess, risk excess, aggregate excess and pro rata treaty. Nick has a master’s degree in History from the University of Edinburgh.

Jonathan Lord joined from Hiscox’s claims department where he spent three years working in the marine and energy class and is now a Trainee Underwriter on the North American reinsurance account. Before starting at Hiscox, Jonathan graduated from The University of Oxford in 2005 with a degree in Modern History.

After graduating with a degree in European Finance and Accounting, Ben worked for two years at Hilton Malcolm, a trade credit insurer, before joining Greig Fester in 1997. He spent just under ten years broking a variety of reinsurance/ retro classes, including trade credit, political risk, terrorism and property, based first in London, then Boston and finally Bermuda.

Joining Hiscox Bermuda in 2007, Ben underwrote worldwide property treaty and had responsibility for business development and broker relations. Ben returned to London on the 1 August 2012 and underwrites US catastrophe treaty as well as managing broker/client relations and quota share strategy for Hiscox reinsurance.

Nick Orton joined Hiscox from Ascot where he worked as an underwriting assistant on both their London and US based operations and is now a Trainee Underwriter on the international reinsurance account. Prior to Ascot, Nick secured a position on the Lloyd’s of London graduate scheme, having graduated from The University of Durham in 2009 with a degree in Biology.

Matthew is a Non-Marine Treaty Underwriter based in London and working on the North American and Caribbean accounts. He has been in this role since November 2011. Prior to joining Hiscox in 2007 as a catastrophe modelling analyst, he completed a PhD in Climate Prediction at the University of East Anglia.
